Experience the thrill of crossing the legendary strait of Deaths Door to Plum Island on this 4-hour kayak adventure designed for intermediate to advanced paddlers with good fitness. Led by a professional guide with extensive experience, participants will navigate the narrow strait before circumnavigating Plum Island. Along the way, guests will have the opportunity to land on Plum Island for a closer look, enjoy a light lunch, and explore the 1800’s Grapeshot shipwreck. This unique tour offers a chance to learn about the rich history of Death’s Door and the Mishipeschu water spirit, providing an unforgettable experience that captures the essence of Door County. Guests have the option to use their own sea kayak for the tour, provided it meets the criteria of being 16ft or longer, equipped with a skeg/rudder, and a spray skirt. Approval from the guide is required prior to the tour. The tour includes rental of a sit-inside sea kayak, life-jacket, and paddle, offering comfort, speed, and stability. A light snack lunch featuring local Door County products such as Charlie's smoked fish, DC Creamery goat cheese, gluten-free crackers, dried cherries, and bottled water is also provided. Participants are required to bring their own sit-inside sea kayak, which must be between 15ft to 17ft in length. A life-jacket is mandatory for safety reasons, and guests are advised to inform their guide in advance if they are bringing their own equipment.
